Over the next decade, the number of jobs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) industries is expected to grow 50% faster than in non-STEM industries. Despite the evidence that the core skills associated with STEM education are in demand for nearly all occupations, many American students conclude early in their academic careers that STEM subjects are boring or too difficult.
By partnering with EVERFI, the Ovie Mughelli Foundation have the unique opportunity to excite students around these topics and prepare the next generation of STEM leaders. EVERFI’s interactive, digital program will introduce middle school students to STEM topics and career opportunities in STEM, and the educational pathways to be successful in these areas.
Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders
The four key components of an EVERFI partnership.
EVERFI’s proprietary platform enables robust measurement and tracking, and creates a 1:1 digital environment for students to engage with the content in a personalized setting. Our courses are designed to meet the learners where they are, and encourage knowledge increase while inspiring them to pursue a STEM field in the future.
Like any career, the best way to learn the ropes is through immersive education. That’s why every module starts and ends with an activity inspired by real careers. For instance, in a module about the future of manufacturing, students learn about 3D printers, materials science and calibrating printer settings.
Along the way, students reflect on the skills they’ve gained and the interests they’ve piqued, connecting those to real world careers they can add to their personal portfolio.
Their culminating takeaway is a personalized career portfolio with profiles and pathways they’ve encountered throughout their journey.
